Physiotherapy
The rehabilitation physiotherapist applies specialist skills within a team context, to holistically assess and treat with the aim of improving movement and functional capabilities of patients with neurological disorders.
The physiotherapy rehabilitation team consists of experienced physiotherapists and neurological therapy assistants who are well supported by the acute services cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic and neurosurgery physiotherapy teams.
The work of the physiotherapist begins with an assessment and review of musculoskeletal, neurological and functional status of the patient. Results of the assessment are used to devise an individualised treatment programme.
A goal orientated patient centred approach to treatment is adopted to improve function and prevent deterioration or new problems occurring.
