OUR SERVICES
Speech and Language Therapy
The Speech and Language Therapy team consists of 8 full time Therapists, covering inpatient rehabilitation, inpatient acute services, outpatients and outreach services.
Speech and Language Therapy is the assessment, diagnosis and management of people with communication and/or swallowing difficulties. The Speech and Language Therapy professional can help to address the following problems:
- Difficulty understanding what is said
- Word finding difficulties
- Difficulty putting words together in sentences
- Difficulty with spelling and writing sentences
- Difficulty understanding written words
- Difficulty with slurred or unclear speech
- Difficulty with swallowing
- Voice problems including difficulty controlling the loudness or pitch of the voice

Speech and Language Therapy aims to enable people to communicate or swallow to the best of their ability. Following an assessment, the Speech and Language Therapist will work with the person to determine the best treatment for their particular problem. This may involve individual therapy, including advice and support, as well as education for family members and carers on how they can help.
